Madrid Miquelet
With the arrival of the first Bourbon king, Felipe V, in 1701, to the Madrid court, French influence on gun design exerted itself. The Madrid gunsmiths produced a lock that was mostly French in appearance but with Spanish miquelet sear mechanisms, the sole miquelet feature. Labeled the "llave ala moda" to distinguish it from the traditional patilla miquelet. It was made almost exclusively in Madrid where it retained its popularity until the end of the 18th century.
